Brought to you by Women in Tech Africa (WITA), Women in Tech Week 2018 is a festival of technology events that will explore different ways women can grow as leaders and technology users. The event features topics such as creating sustainable practices and policies for agriculture technology; learning how to develop compelling digital content; scaling up a business; and key leadership principles for success as a woman executive. It is also a great opportunity for likeminded women across Africa to connect, empower each other, and engage with industry leaders like Patricia Obo-Nai of Vodafone Ghana, Anita Erskine, Yetunde Oyeyemi of Moberry Agro, and Circumspecte’s Jemila Abdulai.

The main theme this year will be Digital Africa and each day of the week will be dedicated to explore different aspects of growth in technology:
Day 1 (Tech and X day) is meant to examine the intersection of technology with Healthcare, Agriculture, lifestyle and commerce as well explore Women’s role in benefitting, contributing and participating in this ever growing market. It kicks off on September 19th with a panel on Sustainable Practices and Policies for Agritech Ecosystem which will be led by Yetunde Oyeyemi of Moberry Agro. It will also be an opportunity for participants to network and learn about WITA.
Day 2 (Teach A Skill Day) which comes off on September 20th will focus on sharing tech skills especially on online education, social media and overall content creation. A panel on Developing Content Creating Skills will be led by Jemila Abdulai, Creative Director and Editor of Circumspecte, there will also be a Live demo and opportunities for networking and exhibitions.
Day 3 (Entrepreneurial Growth and Scale Day) which is on September 21st focuses on studying successful business cases, financing advice as well as skill building tips. The panel for the day has been dubbed Start-Up in Practice: Day-To-Day Operations And Scaling and discussions will be led by Patricia Obo-Nai, Fixed Business and Customer Operations Director at Vodafone Ghana, there will also be opportunities for networking and exhibitions.
Day 4 (Career Leadership Day) coming off on September 22nd this day will center conversations around women in leadership roles as well as effective brand building. There will be a panel on the theme Women In Leadership: Principles And Executive Presence and a speech by guest speaker Anita Erskine, Managing Director Anita Erskine Media.

Women in Tech Africa is an organization that supports women in technology across Africa to positively impact their communities by supporting African growth in technology and creating the space for African women to become the leaders and role models that will inspire the next generation of women tech innovators. The brainchild of ICT4D Ghana foundation, WITA now has a membership of women in over 30 African countries, with physical chapters in Ghana, Kenya and London.
Jemila Abdulai is the creative director, editor and founder of the award-winning website Circumspecte.com. A media and international development professional and economist by training, she combines her business, communications and project management expertise with her strong passion for Africa.
